Biography

Amy L. Fraher


A retired Navy Commander and Naval Aviator, Dr Amy L. Fraher lectures and researchers in leadership, team effectiveness, change management, and organization behavior. A former United Airlines pilot, she has over 6,000 mishap-free flight hours in four jet airliners, five military aircraft, and several types of civilian airplanes.

Dr. Fraher is the Director and Principal Consultant of Paradox and Company, where she consults internationally to a broad range of organizations. Her work has taken her to Australia, the UK and around the EU. In particular, she focuses on improving teamwork in high-risk organizations by helping people understand the group dynamics that can debilitate operations.


She is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM) and the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations (ISPSO) and chaired ISPSO's Annual Meeting in San Diego at the Hotel Del Coronado in 2012.
She is also an editorial board member for Team Performance Management, and a reviewer for Human Relations, Leadership Quarterly, Organization Studies, and Organisation & Social Dynamics. 

Dr Fraher received her doctorate in leadership from the University of San Diego, her masters in educational technology from San Diego State University and her BS in textile design from Philadelphia University. She has also attended Aviation Safety Officer School at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey CA and the Naval War College.
